25 Days to Halloween- 1994 In the Mouth of Madness

Over the next 100 days, I will present one movie of significances in horror, suspense or thrillers for each year from 1919 to 2018. The next film presented here is the 1994 psychological horror movie "In the Mouth of Madness" starring Sam Neill, Julie Carmen, Jurgen Prochnow, David Warner, Charlton Heston and directed by John Carpenter.

In the Mouth of Madness (1994)
Dir- John Carpenter

Sam Neill stars as insurance investigator John Trent, who is sent to locate an enigmatic horror author named Sutter Cane. Well, it seems that people are dying for his latest book and with riots in the street and all hell about to come forth the mystery of Sutter Cane opens up all sorts of weird events. Using the novels as a clue, Trent locates the town of Hobb's End and is shocked to discover that the whole town is straight from the books in every creepy detail. There he is led to a cathedral where his worst fears are encountered, and the horrible truth behind Cane's real purpose is made known. John Carpenter takes some liberty with a few HP Lovecraft stories and pieces together what has to be one of the most frightening films of 1994. Look for plenty of bloody axes, grotesquely disfigured zombies and a wide variety of disturbing visions and way-out imagery. One of the few horror films were all Hell breaks loose and, unfortunately, it only gets worse from there.
