Hell House LLC

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hell_House_LLC

A documentary film crew conducts an investigation of a tragic event that occurred five years prior at a Halloween Haunted House located in the small town of Abaddon, New York. Fifteen guests and crew were reported dead including most of the staff, but all video evidence was removed before an explanation could be found. A break occurs when a survivor agrees to an interview and even offers tapes of crew interviews and video journals that offer exclusive background on the events that led to the tragedy.

Here are two films that shared a very similar poster but are very different movies, one came out in 1980 and deals with a phantom ship that seeks out victims and the other is from 2002 and deals with a phantom ship that seeks out victims. Ok, both films have similar plots but are not really the same. They are both interesting films and I remember both of the well mainly because both posters are creepy.

Piranha 3D (2010)

Piranha 3D (2010)

Yet another remake of the Joe Dante’s Jaws parody has a local sheriff facing problems when underwater explosions release prehistoric piranha as thousands of college coeds invade the small town during. spring break. Excellent cast and a surprisingly competent script make this a B movie worth watching. Followed by an even campier sequel called Piranha 3DD

Let the Right One In (2008)
A young preteen boy who is bullied by his classmates befriends a young girl who has a secret she shares when they bond as friends. This new friendship gives him the confidence to face his bullies and to learn what love can mean despite her secret. Based on a novel, the film would be remade in the US and is one of the few remakes that stands on its own.

Les Diaboliques (1955) aka Diabolique

Les Diaboliques (1955) aka Diabolique
Dir- Henri-Georges Clouzot
One of the most influential horror/thrillers of its day, Diabolique pretty much set all the standards by which most thrillers often imitate. The movie is set in France at a boarding school where the tyrannical Headmaster maintains an iron grip on both his students and employees. His battered wife and his former mistress both conspire to murder him and get rid of his body during a student holiday. Over the many years since its release, many films have imitated and ripped off the style of Diabolique. The style and overall technique are very reminiscent of an Alfred Hitchcock film, so much so that Hitchcock tried unsuccessfully to remake Diabolique. One of the most influential thrillers of the period, Diabolique remains a great film that would inspire so many films and directors for years to come. Remade several times over the years, most recently in 1996 with Sharon Stone, Isabelle Adjani, Kathy Bates, and Chazz Palminteri.

More a mystery than horror I have always found this film to be amazing in how it uses the rock formation and flute music to set an atmosphere of beauty and dread. When I saw the preview as a kid it terrified me and when I saw the film years later it was not scary but did have so many questions left to be answered. Released in 1975 and directed by Peter Weir Picnic at Hanging Rock is worth looking for.
