Over the next 100 days, I will present one movie of significances in horror, suspense or thrillers for each year from 1919 to 2018. The next film presented here is the 1948 horror comedy "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein" starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, Lon Chaney, Jr, Bela Lugosi, Glenn Strange and directed by Charles Barton.
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948)
Dir- Charles Barton
The dynamic comedy duo Bud Abbott and Lou Costello play Chick and Wilbur who are baggage clerks who get a warning from Larry Talbot about a package that contains the remains of Dracula and Frankenstein's monster meant for a wax museum. Dracula awakens and revives Frankenstein's monster taking hypnotic control over Chick whom he hopes to use as a brain donor for the monster. Larry Talbot arrives from Europe and sets a plan in motion to stop Dracula from completing his devious plan. This was the first of a group of films that would pair Abbott and Costello against one of the Universal Monsters. This production features Bela Lugosi as Dracula, Glenn Strange as Frankenstein's monster and Lon Chaney, Jr as Larry Talbot aka the Wolf Man.
