Over the next 100 days, I will present one movie of significances in horror, suspense or thrillers for each year from 1919 to 2018. The next film presented here is the 1957 British horror movie "Curse of the Demon" starring Dana Andrews, Peggy Cummins, Niall MacGinnis and directed by Jacques Tourneur.
Curse of the Demon (1957)
Dir- Jacques Tourneur
A psychologist who is skeptical of the supernatural finds himself in real trouble when he is marked for death by a black magician and to die at the hands of a hideous monster. A real scary film that is considered to be one of the best monster movies of the fifties. The demon was so scary looking that it was shown at the beginning against the wishes of its director as to not scare the audience, don't you just hate when they do that. Great acting, good use of plot and setting and a very well made monster contribute to Jacques Tourneur's classic. The movie was trimmed for it's US release, and thankfully it is available uncut. The film is also known as Night of the Demon.
