I will be posting Christmas-themed horror films over the next 24 days of LosMas; for the sixteenth night, I am posting the 2024 slasher The Naughty List of Mr Scrooge.
The Naughty List of Mr. Scrooge (2024)
So many slasher movies rely on revenge as motivation for the killer to slice and dice a collection of hapless victims. Often, these movies are pretty formulaic, with the film changing the setting, the choice of killing tools, and the villain's costume. The Naughty List of Mr. Scrooge takes the classic story A Christmas Carol as the basis for this slasher, which follows a group of college friends reuniting ten years after a prank gone wrong results in the death of a classmate. With snow conditions being terrible, the group at first seems festive, but secrets come out, and bodies pile up at the hands of a killer wearing a Scrooge mask. The Naughty List of Mr. Scrooge is a 2024 slasher written and directed by Jake Helgren. Featuring a cast of attractive but little-known actors, The Naughty List of Mr. Scrooge has a decent storyline, and with the snowy setting, you get an excellent backdrop for the film's villain to operate. While the plot itself is derivative, the kills are well-executed for this holiday slasher. Better than expected, The Naughty List of Mr. Scrooge won't win awards, but it does offer some decent kills and some mild humor.
