I will be posting Christmas-themed horror films over the next 24 days of LosMas; for the thirteenth night, I am posting the 2023 horror comedy Hell Hath No Fury.
Hell Hath No Fury (2023)
The perfect marriage is often spoken of as an oxymoron, describing a couple who look and seem like a match made in heaven. Hell Hath No Fury features a wife, Priscilla, who has built a lovely home for her husband, Silas. While they both look like Barbie and Ken, their marriage is as fake as their smiles for one another. Priscilla plans to have her husband murdered so she can move on with her lover and pretend to be a grieving widow. Little does she realize that Silas has similar intentions to have her taken out as well. Hell Hath No Fury is a 2023 dark comedy directed by Zachary Burns and written by Jacob Leighton Burns. Priscilla is masterfully portrayed by Leah NH Philpott, showcasing a plastic smile, a perfectly pressed dress, and a delightful, sinister personality. Much of the film's dark humor centers on her devious plot to trick her hubby, encourage her lover, and deceive her noisy neighbors. Jacob Ryan Snovel portrays Silas as a seemingly perfect Ken doll hiding a sociopathic personality. The movie is only 70 minutes long but is well-paced, with a fun supporting cast and a darkly comedic style that makes it an entertaining mix of The War of the Roses and Ruthless People.
