Killer Christmas Elves (2021)
A divorced father and his estranged son have an awkward holiday visit that turns into a fight for survival when a series of cursed
Elf on the Shelf dolls attack their neighborhood. Killer Christmas Elves is a 2021 horror-comedy directed by
Joshua B. Hall and starring
Chris Campbell,
Aaron Drussel, and
Tanya Price. Produced during COVID, the movie has a minimalist feel that actually works in its favor, as the main character lives in a new community and the Christmas aesthetic is minimal by design. The film's plot is a derivative take on
Gremlins, but thanks to its
silly stop-motion effects, it is actually a goofy, fun movie to watch. The father-and-son dynamic works excellently for the story, but the
witchcraft aspect was underplayed, especially in the final boss battle. Killer Christmas Elves will not win awards or become a cult classic, but is instead a simple, goofy indie project that is fun despite its low budget and
minimalist holiday setting.
