White Zombie (1932)
Dir- Victor Halperin
An engaged couple traveling to Haiti encounters a mysterious man who has the power to turn people into mindless servants. Their host takes an interest in the bride for himself but finds trouble with the same voodoo master, who has other intentions. White Zombie was directed by Victor Halperin and starred Bela Legosi as voodoo master Murder Legendre. White Zombie was the first feature-length movie to utilize the concept of a zombie. Unlike today's brain-eaters, the zombies in this film are mindless enslaved people under the control of Legosi's character. While the film was not as successful as Legosi's Dracula, White Zombie would emerge as a cult classic and the inspiration for musician Rob Zombie's band White Zombie.
