Exorcist Knockoff Movies of the 1970's- 76 Days to Halloween

 

Abby (1974)

The spirit of an African Demon possesses a minister's wife. A blacksploitation version of The Exorcist, the movie did feature Blacula star, William Marshall.


The Antichrist (1974)

The paralyzed daughter of an Italian nobleman seeking a psychologist to help with her mother's death unlocks a previous life as a witch. She is then possessed, and an exorcism is performed after she seduces and kills some local men. 


Beyond the Door (1974)

A young woman is pregnant with a child possessed by the Devil who can move objects, levitate the mother, and make her head spin in this direct copycat of The Exorcist that also manages to rip off Rosemary's Baby.


The Eerie Midnight Horror Show (1974)

A young female art student visits an old church and purchases a small sculpture that unleashes supernatural forces. After her bizarre behavior alarms her parents, a priest arrives to perform an exorcism. 


Seytan (1974)

A young girl from a wealthy Turkish family becomes possessed by the Devil after playing with a Ouija Board. The film is called Turkish Exorcist due to the plot that follows The Exorcist. 


I Don't Want to Be Born (1975)

A former stripper spurns a dwarf's advances and becomes cursed by giving birth to a satanically influenced child. The film has gained a cult following for the so bad its good plot and unintentional humor. 


Demon Witch Child (1975)

A police chief's young daughter is the target of a group of gypsy witches who wish to possess her with their deceased leader's spirit. The actress who plays the possessed girl also voiced Linda Blair's character in the Spanish dub of The Exorcist.



Exercismo (1975)

A young woman participates in a satanic ceremony that has her possessed by her deceased father. What follows is usual projectile vomiting, curses, and head spinning.  


The House of Exorcism (1975)

A Mario Bava directed film starred Elke Sommer as an American tourist who encounters supernatural forces while staying in a Spanish home. Although released as Lisa and the Devil in 1973, The House of Exorcism was re-edited to add an exorcism subplot, more gruesome deaths, and some risque scenes with the star Elke Sommer.  


The Return of the Exorcist (1975)

A young boy photographs a mysterious naked woman who is the spirit of a witch. She then possesses him to exact revenge on his family, who have ancestral ties to the witch. The film manages to ripoff Black Sunday along with The Exorcist. 


Shock (1977)

A mother and her son return to their former home after she remarries. Soon after, her late husband's spirit causes problems in the house as bad memories begin to return. Directed by Mario Bava, Shock would be Bava's last movie and would be released in the US as Beyond the Door 2. 


The Manitou (1978)

Psychic fears the tumor growing on his girlfriend's neck may be an evil spirit, and he seeks out a native American shaman to help rid the evil spirit.



The Visitor (1979)

An alien warrior arrives on Earth to stop demonic children planning to take control of humanity. The film is notable for the many films it seems to borrow plot elements from, including The Exorcist, Carrie, The Omen, and The Birds.
