24 Days of LosMas- Decoys (2004)

will post Christmas-themed horror films over the next 24 days of LosMas; for the twenty-first night, I am posting the 2004 sci fi movie Decoys.

Decoys (2004)
Two college freshmen looking to shed their virgin status are quickly drawn to a pair of seemingly perfect blond beauties. While one of the guys is smitten, the other suspects something when he notices some strange behaviors the women are showing. Decoys is a 2004 Canadian sci-fi movie directed by Matthew Hastings, featuring Corey Sevier, Kim Poirier, and Nicole Eggert. Decoys is set on a university campus in Canada during the winter holiday and makes excellent use of Ottawa's location. As with so many sci-fi movies, this film borrows heavily from other movies, most notably Species with a bit of American Pie. While the film uses CGI for the alien creatures, it uses practical makeup for some gory scenes. Decoys were made for the Sci-Fi Channel but look great for a TV movie; the cast is attractive, and it's easy to see how the alien women could seduce their unsuspecting suitors. Actors Corey Sevier and Stefanie von Pfetten work great together and show real chemistry. Despite the not-so-subtle nods to Species, Decoys is a decent sci-fi thriller with a beautiful cast and a great winter setting for a fun holiday sci-fi treat.
