2 Days to Halloween- 2017 Get Out

Over the next 100 days, I will present one movie of significances in horror, suspense or thrillers for each year from 1919 to 2018. The next film presented here is the 2017 horror satire "Get Out" starring Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Catherine Keener, Bradley Whitford and directed by Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Catherine Keener, and Bradley Whitford.

Get Out (2017)
Dir- Jordan Peele

A young black man dating a white woman finds himself in a bizarre world as he visits her folks in a seemingly perfect neighborhood where every other black person he meets seems to behave rather strangely. As he meets her family and friends his suspicions become more apparent as he notices peculiar events that seem to suggest that the family is hiding something from him. Get Out is the directorial debut for comedian Jordan Peele who stated that The Stepford Wives was a huge inspiration for his film. Racism plays into the film's plot quite heavily yet is shown in subtle ways that seem invisible at first but reveal themselves toward the end. The film benefits greatly from the cast that includes Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Catherine Keener, and Bradley Whitford. Get Out was a huge hit with audiences and critics earning an Oscar for Best Screenplay for Jordan Peele.
